In a casual and cozy atmosphere, meet Toronto-based artist Tasman Richardson and discover his solo exhibition Kali Yuga, currently on view at Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal. In a conversation moderated by curator Shauna Jean Doherty, Tasman Richardson will talk about his installation and its central themes: the dual role of audience as prisoner and guard, earthly impermanence, and the eastern apocalyptic perspective that inspired him. ABOUT - TASMAN RICHARDSON
Based in Toronto (Canada), Tasman Richardson has exhibited extensively throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His practice uses primarily video collage using the JAWA method (the manifesto he authored in 1996), fully immersive media installations (Necropolis, MOCCA 2012), and live audiovisual performances. His themes to date have been a critical response to the spectacular, emotionally potent illusion of media culture.
