This year, Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal is pleased to welcome Corri-Lynn Tetz for a residency. The Canadian artist will be in preparation for her upcoming solo exhibition (Nov 10 - Dec 17, 2022) at Arsenal Contemporary Art New York and for several upcoming exhibitions in Canada, including one at Galerie Blouin Division this summer.
About
Corri-Lynn Tetz’s work as a painter, focuses on the female figure as a way to explore identity, sensation and desire. Working from personal archives, fashion photography, film and pornography from 80’s/90’s, the artist explores the sexualized representation of women and the male gaze that she attempts to subvert. In this, she often uses disparate color, and inventive figuration, to create the impression of transformation, affect and sensation. Her intention is that each painting occupies a space between representation and abstraction - that form provides enough information to convey bodies and space, without losing the immediacy of that first layer of paint.
Corri-Lynn was born in Calgary. Graduated from Red Deer College in 1999, Emily Carr University in 2003 and Concordia University in 2015, she lives and works in Montreal. Her recent exhibitions include: Canada North by Northeast, Contemporary Canadian Painting at Kasmin Gallery (New York), Art Lover at Contemporary Calgary (Alberta), Group Exhibition at Norberg Hall (Calgary), Jardins Intérieurs at Arsenal Contemporary Art (Montreal), The heart is a muscle at Dianna Witte Gallery (Toronto) and 10 Years Later at Jarvis Hall Gallery (Calgary). Corri-Lynn is represented by Norberg Hall (Calgary).
