Throughout its artistic residency program, Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal provides artists with an experimental space to practise their interdisciplinary research. It is within this initiative that the art center welcomes the circus troupe and their project entitled Sanctuary. The latter will use part of the space in order to carry on their creative process.

Sanctuary is a nomadic refuge, a place of calm in a chaotic world. Conceived and produced by Tuedon Ariri, Marie Lebot, Arthur Morel Van Hyfte, Guillaume Paquin, and Olivier Sylvestre, this hybrid project - between circus, dance and visual arts - centers around research on tensegrity* and its poetic parallel. Its goal is to provide a space for breathing and inspiration for all through hypnotic performances. Sanctuary is also an ambulatory display that harmonizes with the seasons. During the summer, it takes places outdoors to take root in nature. During the winter, it is held in museums and other spaces dedicated to art.

*Tensegrity is the faculty of a structure to be stabilized by the play of the forces of tension and compression which are distributed and are balanced there.
